February 2024

Stepping Stone Shelter held a supply drive at the shelter on Pancake Day since we are next door to the Pancake Hall of Fame. We also handed out cookies and hot cocoa. One of the shelter's goals this year is to be more visible in the community.

HAVE A HEART
FOR THE HOMELESS

  • We are thankful for the blanket donations that so many have made. We also need to thank Southern Office Supply and Central Christian Church for their generous donations.

  • If you are reading this, you are on our new website for the shelter. Please feel free to let us know if you have any problems or suggestions regarding the website.

  • Stepping Stone Shelter has several renovation projects in the works. The electrical panel has just been replaced. That was a safety issue that we are very happy to have resolved, even if it meant having our electricity off while they were working. The next major project that is in the works is the upgrade/renovation of the kitchen to commercial standards. Finally, we will begin planning for repairs to the roof on the north side.

  • We are very happy to share that the shelter is now fully staffed including evenings and weekends. If you think you would like to work at the shelter, drop by and fill out an application in case we do have an opening in the future.

  • Scarlette Diseker is our newest Board of Directors member. She is extremely talented and we are very happy to have her expertise. The Board of Directors is currently working on a strategic plan for the shelter. The plan will be our roadmap for the coming year. It has been a positive experience to go through this process.
